Irish Ballad
c/a Barney Rushe
Duration: 3.40
Lyrics:

Well Aishling is an air hostess
Loves the life of the global gypsy
Today she's home by tomorrow she's flown
To Rio, Rome or Sydney
But a million miles of plastic smiles
The glamour long since departed
She's applied for a transfer to check in
'cause Dublin's where her heart is.

Chorus:
It's nice to travel to the rainbow's end
Meet new people and make new friends
Find out what's up around the bend
To ramble and to roam
Then you hear a song or an Irish air
Be it Raglan Road or She Moved Through the Fair
You long for the Rare Ould Times over there
You'd love to be at home.

As I strolled through Central Park one day
I couldn't believe my hearing
Stood a fellow from Cork entertaining New York
On the pipes playing the Planxty Irwin
We talked of our travels around the world
Of the wanderlust within
How we'd love to sip and lick the cream from our lips
Of some decent pints of Guinness.

Chorus...

Last night I bumped into a friend
I hadn't seen for ages
Talked of the great times that we spent
Drinking our young mans wages
Told me he lived in Africa now
Made it sound like the life of Riley
But after a few jars it all came out
For the ould sod he was pinning.

Chorus...
Repeat chorus...

Irish Ballad

Lyrics:

On a jet up in the sky that’s flying over Ireland
My wife is sitting next to me, her hand is in my hand
And I’m thinking God it’s been so long they’ll hardly know my name
And I know that there’ll be changes, still I’m hoping it’s the same

And the memories come flickering into view and like the dawn
They wander in and shed a light and suddenly they’re gone
I can see a scene where I have been, I hear a battered tune
I used to know so long ago and long ago was soon over the moon

Chorus:
I remember the day when I went far away to be seeking my fame and my fortune
Some days it was fun to be out in the sun, some days it was bloody well torture
Well the body and mind took the traveling well, but the heart it was here to stay
Now the sun is arising on the horizon over Dublin Bay.....Dublin Bay

Well the years went by so slow at first when everything was new
But soon it was the 17th since I had said adieu
I don’t know what I intended when I first went on my way
But I know I’m doing something very different today

And the plane is getting lower now we’ll soon be on the ground
What used to be a memory is now a sight and sound
And tonight til late we’ll celebrate, the whiskey and the beer
We’ll hug and kiss and reminisce the laughter and the tears, over the years

Chorus:
I remember the day when I went far away to be seeking my fame and my fortune
Some days it was fun to be out in the sun, some days it was bloody well torture
Well the body and mind took the travelling well, but the heart it was here to stay
Now the sun is arising on the horizon over Dublin Bay
(Repeat chorus)

Lyrics:

He was Lawless by name, lawless by nature, he was trouble right from the start
Hard as nails, running wild through the streets, he was breaking his poor mother's heart
Nature played a trick on Lawless and the humour of nature is cruel
He grew up as we all had expected into a dangerous fool

He was a hard man, a man for all seasons, he was always out for a fight
He couldn't hold drink but still he'd get plastered in Clark's every Saturday night
Strip to the vest and challenge the best until the guards they were called to come fast
And they'd lock him away for the rest of the day and let him out on the Sunday for a mass

Oh, one night he went down to the 'Ringsend Regatta' where he met up with the bold Dolly Platts
She wasn't exactly what you'd call beauty but she was the belle of our flats
A whirlwind romance and Dolly took the flier, with Lawless she would settle down
It was pure coincidence three months before, there was a Yankee destroyer in town

And the couple were blessed with one of god's miracles before six months had elapsed
Dolly gave birth to a nine-pound black baby and Lawless was fit to collapse
She swore she'd never been touched by another and Lawless took her at her word
And the neighbours exclaimed, 'he's the spit of his father and the cuckoo is a wonderful bird'

Oh, now Lawless stays in and looks after his baby while Dolly goes out for the night
The old gossips all say she's free in her ways and their evil rumours ran rife
When Lawless heard this, he waited for Dolly in the bridge where the river runs low
No one will ever know what happened next but Dolly drowned in the Dodder below

Some say he's crazy and more say he's evil, everyone says that he's mad
No one will defend him; he was no angel but I'll tell you he wasn't all bad
They've locked him away for the rest of his natural, never again will he see
Down the back of Ringsend there's a lonely child playing where the Liffey flows into the sea.

Irish Ballad/Love Song
c/a Barney Rushe

Lyrics:

Of all the stars that ever shone
Not one did twinkle like your pale blue eyes
The golden corn at harvest times your hair
Sailing in my boat
The wind that Gently blows and fills my sail
Your sweet-scented breath is everywhere

The daylight peeping through the curtains
Of the passing night time is your smile
The sun in the sky like your laugh
Come back to me my Nancy
And linger for just a little while
Since you left these shores
I've known no peace nor joy

No matter where I wander
I'm still haunted by your name
The portrait of your beauty stays the same
Standing by the ocean wondering
where you've gone, if you'll return again
Where is the ring I gave to Nancy Spain?

On a day in Spring coming
When snow starts to melt and streams to flow
With the birds I'll sing a happy song
With Nancy as my bride I'll wander
Down by the Bluebell Grove where wild flowers grow
I hope my lovely Nancy will return

No matter where I wander
I'm still haunted by your name
The portrait of your beauty stays the same
Standing by the ocean wondering
where you've gone, if you'll return again
Where is the ring I gave to Nancy Spain?

Australian Folk/Love song.
c/a Debbie Grace
Duration: 4.12
Lyrics:

He sits waiting patiently for the woman of his dreams to come on home
He thinks about the past and wonders where on earth did he ever go wrong
In a little country town they met beneath the flowing beads of Attie Falls
They’d lived there all their lives and never seen the sight(s) of city lights at all.

At seventeen they wed and managed easily the local corner store
They moved to Adelaide to find the disillusioned life of having more
They’d forgotten who they really were ~ all innocence was crushed by life preferred
Plastic conversation ~ Mercedes Sports ~ reality deterred
The tempting apparitions of success amongst the mighty corporate world
He realized mistakes he’d made ~ but returned home without his darlin’ girl.

He came back to Cardwell to that kinda’ laid back place where he belonged
Fishing off the jetty ~ line dancing ~ drinking beer and country songs
Many times he’d womanise but missed that pretty baby that he’d wed
While in company of other lady friends he wished that they were her instead.

Every day an old grey bearded man sits at the station just on dawn
He can’t explain the emptiness he feels and blames himself that she is gone
Hopes one day she’ll forgive him and prays that she’ll be boarding that old train
‘Cause she’s everything to him and he’ll do anything so she don’t leave him again.

One dark night she reaches out and gently strokes his ever-trembling hands
He clutches her within his arms in disbelief that she is really there
There’s no call for forgiveness ~ she knows her past he’ll surely understand
Though many friendships she had tried ~ never once did she stop loving this man
Though many friendships she had tried ~ never once did she stop loving this man.

Full title:The Crack Was Ninety in the Isle of Man.
Lyrics:

Oh Well weren't we the rare oul stock
Spent the evenin' gettin' locked
In the Ace O' Hearts where the high stools were
Engaging
Over the Butte Bridge, down by the dock
The boat she sailed at five o'clock
'Ah hurry on', said Whack
'Or before we're there we'll all be back
Carry him if you can'
Oh the crack was ninety in the Isle of Man

Before we reached the Alexander Base
The ding dong we did surely raise
In the bar of the ship, had great sport
As the boat she sailed out of the port
Landed up in the Douglas Head
Enquiring for a vacant bed
The dining room we soon got shown
By a decent looking woman
Saying 'Lads ate up if you can. '
Oh the crack was ninety in the Isle of Man

Next morning we went for a ramble round
Viewed the sights of Douglas Town
Ended up in a mighty session
In a pub they call dick Darby's
We all got drunk by half past three
To sober up we went swimmin' in the sea
Back to the digs for the spruce up
While waitin' for the Rosie, we all drew up our plan
Oh the crack was ninety in the Isle of Man

Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?
Taylor Swift
That night we went to the Texas Bar
Came back down by horse and car
Met Big Jim and all went in
To drink some wine in Yates'
The Liverpool girls it was said
Were all to be found in the Douglas Head
Mcshane was there in tie and shirt
The foreign queer was tryin' to flirt
Sayin', 'Hey, girls, I'm your man. '
Oh the crack was ninety in the Isle of Man

Whacker fancied his good looks
On the Isle of Man woman he was struck
The Liverpool lad was by her side and
And he threw the jars into her
Whacker thought he'd take a chance
He asked the quare one out to dance
Around the floor they rocked and rolled
To Whack it was no bother
Everythin' was goin' to plan
Oh The crack was ninety in the Isle of Man

The Isle of Man woman fancied Whack
Your man stood there till his mates came back
Whack! They all whacked into Whack
Whack was landed on his back
The police force arrived as well
Banjoed a couple of them as well
Landed up in the Douglas gaol
'Til the Dublin boat did sail
Deported every man
Oh the crack was ninety in the Isle of Man.

Lyrics:

I sailed into the black of night out from Dun Laoghaire Bay
I watched the Royal Marine Hotel lights fade away
My left hand holding a bag of clothes, in my right an old guitar
The drink I had to not feel bad didn’t get me very far

So goodbye Ireland, goodbye freedom, goodbye home
This old guitar mightn’t get me far but its everything I own
Goodbye to all the rainy seasons and goodbye Jane
I promise you when I get through oh they’ll all know my name

Got off the boat at Holyhead, got on the train to town
For all the lights and all the sights that London got me down
The fog was cold, Big Ben he told (tolled) the future’s like the past
If you don’t want to be in misery, you better leave here very fast

So goodbye Ireland, goodbye England, goodbye home
This old guitar mightn’t get me far but its everything I own
Goodbye to all the rainy seasons and goodbye Jane
I promise you when I get through, everybody’s gonna know my name

I went back home and waited for the visa to arrive
And yesterday the postman came and again I say goodbye
The party’s swinging, someone’s singing, I heard a neighbour say
(Hah) the music man without a plan is heading for America

So goodbye Ireland, goodbye freedom, goodbye home
This old guitar mightn’t get me far but its everything I own
Goodbye to all the rainy seasons and goodbye Jane
I promise you when I get through, everybody’s gonna know my name.

Irish Ballad/Duet
c/a Peter & Fran Philips
Duration: 3.45
Lyrics:

There’s a land that I love in a sea of blue
And itself is an island of green
And of all of the pictures I keep in my mind
It’s the one that’s my favourite scene
And I wander the Earth in pursuit of a dream
That may never materialize
For a son of Ireland I was born
And a Buachaill ón Éireann I’ll die

I’m a Cailín that’s wandering oceans wide
Many years I’ve been far away
Believing that far distant hills would be green
I have found all their colors are grey
And I’m tiptoeing through an arrangement of dreams
And I wish that to home I could fly
For a daughter of Ireland I was born
And an Irish Cailín I’ll die

So we live out our youths and reclining years
In a country long ways from home
And tonight with a clink we will drink to a land
We were destined to leave it to roam
And the hope of returning stays deep in our hearts
When the others have long passed us by
For sons and daughters of Ireland
We were born and so will we die
Ah sons and daughters of Ireland
We were born and so will we die
